On Thursday, July 12, 2018. Members of the WICT NE chapter attended a panel discussion highlighting the key women’s initiatives that the WICT organization has developed and enabled. The panel featured Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) President and CEO, Maria Brennan, at the 2018 NECTA Convention & Exhibit, in Newport, RI. Maria was joined by Gail MacKinnon, Executive Vice President, Government Affairs, Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. and Tracy Pitcher, Senior Vice President, Greater Boston Region, Comcast. The moderator of the panel was Greg Hickman, Senior Vice President of Technology and Digital Communications, WICT.

It was an inspirational discussion that indicated the positive progress that has been made in regards to women in the field of Cable Telecommunication. The field leads the way in the support, recruitment and employment of women.  Maria wants the Cable Telecommunications industry to be the gold standard for all industries in the advancement of women. WICT and its chapters, national and global, offer programs that promote personal and professional growth and development. The panel discussion helped to demonstrate all that a WICT membership has to offer.

Maria shared that the WICT organization is proud to announce the creation of a new chapter in Amsterdam, which extends support and networking opportunities for women throughout the European region. Another highlight shared, was the announcement that 2019 will mark not only the 1000th graduate from the Betsy Magness Program, but will also be a celebration of the organization’s 40th anniversary!
